Abu Dhabi: In a bid to ignite the passion for artificial intelligence (AI) in the minds of future innovators and problem solvers, the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) has launched a comprehensive series of summer camps designed specifically for high school students. These camps, tailored for students in grades 9 to 12, aim to engage and educate up to 2,400 participants. Through this initiative, students will delve into the world of generative artificial intelligence, learning not only how to harness its potential but also exploring its practical applications in real-world scenarios. Additionally, these camps will provide valuable insights into various AI-related career paths, guiding students as they consider their futures in this rapidly evolving field.

Intensive four-week training program

In an ambitious effort to foster the next generation of AI experts, the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) has partnered with 42 Abu Dhabi to present the Generative AI and Prompt Engineering Bootcamp. This unique program is structured into two distinct formats over four continuous weeks, accommodating various learning styles and preferences. Open to students from grades 9 to 12, the bootcamp is designed to equip young minds with a deep understanding of generative AI, offering them a valuable opportunity to explore this cutting-edge technology in a structured and supportive environment.

Additionally, ADEK has extended its educational outreach by organizing full-day bootcamps across six schools in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, and Al Dhafra. These intensive sessions provided students with a comprehensive and immersive learning experience, focusing on generative AI and prompt engineering. Over the course of a single day, participants engaged in three targeted training sessions, each offering hands-on practice with user-friendly AI tools. This approach ensured that students not only gained theoretical knowledge but also practical skills, empowering them to apply what they learned in real-world scenarios.

Alternatively, a customized two-hour session was conducted in partnership with Majalis Abu Dhabi, hosted by the Citizens and Community Affairs Office of the Presidential Court. This specialized learning experience was made available at 28 different locations throughout Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, and Al Dhafra, specifically designed to cater to the educational needs of Emirati students.

Comprehensive five-day course

Another exciting opportunity is an extensive five-day summer program organized in partnership with the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI), one of the pioneering research-focused institutions globally, dedicated to advancing the field of artificial intelligence. This program is specifically tailored for students in grade 11, offering them a deep dive into the diverse applications of AI, from its role in film production and the burgeoning field of generative AI to the principles of responsible AI and an engaging sustainability research project. Participants will benefit from a rich learning experience, guided by the expertise of MBZUAI’s distinguished faculty, accomplished alumni, current students, and dedicated staff, who will lead the workshops and provide invaluable insights throughout the program.

Artificial Intelligence Olympiad

In a groundbreaking initiative, ADEK has partnered with the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI) to meticulously prepare four talented Emirati students for the inaugural edition of the International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence (IOAI). This prestigious global competition, tailored for high school students with a deep interest in artificial intelligence, offers a unique platform for these young minds to showcase their skills on an international stage. To ensure their success, two accomplished students from MBZUAI have been appointed as dedicated mentors, providing personalized guidance and expert insights to the team as they navigate the challenges of this highly competitive event. The culmination of their hard work and preparation will be seen as the competition draws to a close tomorrow (August 15) in Bulgaria.
