The survey by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) aims to assess the challenges faced by the adaptation of advanced technology and prepare them for upcoming 5G and 6G technologies.

On Wednesday, the government announced a new initiative to assist Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and startups in adopting emerging technologies for their ‘Industry 4.0’ transformation. The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has invited proposals for an “Industry 4.0 Baseline Survey among MSMEs” to align with the preparation of industries for the upcoming 5G and 6G technologies.

It will assess the challenges that MSMEs face in adapting to Industry 4.0 and utilising advanced technologies.

“The survey will aim to lay the groundwork for a robust ecosystem capable of capitalising on the capabilities offered by Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), Cloud Computing, and the integration of 5G and 6G networks,” said the DoT.

The aim is to identify specific needs within at least 10 sectors and preferences, considering the diverse landscape of MSMEs.

“The survey will, over a 60-day period, seek to cover five sectors each in north and southern parts of India,” the Department added.

Organisations and startups can submit proposals by June 11 to participate in this survey.

Meanwhile, the government has approved an allocation of Rs. 128 crore for CPGRAMS (Centralised Public Grievance Redress and Monitoring System) version 8.0. The upgraded technology platform will be implemented over the next two years. This was announced by the Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances (DARPG) on Tuesday.

For those who may not know, the online portal CPGRAMS (Centralised Public Grievance Redress and Monitoring System) of the Government of India was launched in 2007. This portal allows individuals to file complaints related to any department of the Central and State Government. It is specifically designed to help resolve complaints pertaining to banking, financial, and pension-related services.

The IBM Center for the Business of Government in the US invited the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) on June 3 to give a presentation to representatives of the US Government and stakeholders who work with the IBM Center via video conferencing. During the presentation, the government announced the allocation.
