artificial intelligence enters fully into the competition of audiovisual productions through a Chinese production company, which launches the first animated series, made entirely by a machine learning mechanism.

It is not the first time that an audiovisual production made entirely by artificial intelligence has been launched. But this one stands out for having an entire season, 27 episodes, each lasting 7 minutes.

The animated series created by artificial intelligence is called Qianqiu Shisong. And the most notable thing is that it comes from an initiative of the official state channel, China Central Television (CCTV), according to a review Xataka.

The aforementioned media reports that generative artificial intelligence tools were used to produce Qianqiu Shisong. The creators of the series created an AI model in which, through textual description, animated videos can be created, with voice dialogues and music.

The mastermind behind the production is made up of creatives from China Media Group and the Shanghai Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (SAIL).

The latter company says that the AI model was applied in each of the stages of content creation. They started with the artistic design, the literary part and the post-production

The series is based on classical Chinese poetry. The images are proof that the series shows the typical landscapes of the Asian giant and its culture.

Qianqiu Shisong, translated as “Ode to a Thousand Years of Poetry,” is the world’s first animated series made largely with generative artificial intelligence. It premiered in China in early February 2024 and consists of 26 episodes of 7 minutes each.
