The viral Coke Studio Pakistan song ‘Blockbuster’ lives up to its name and that is quite clear from its popularity since its release two months ago. Now, as social media users are busy making Instagram reels with the trending song, musician Anshuman Sharma created a rendition of ‘Blockbuster’ in legendary singer Mohammed Rafi’s vocals using Artificial Intelligence (AI).

No prizes for guessing that the AI rendition of ‘Blockbuster’ in Rafi’s vocals is doing the rounds of the internet, as Zulfiqar Jabbar Khan or Xulfi – producer of the Coke Studio song – also reacted to it.

Sharma recreated ‘Blockbuster’ in the 70s style as this rendition features vocals by singer Aditya Kalway that has been “converted to Rafi Sahab’s voice using AI”.

Xulfi, who was rather overwhelmed after watching Sharma’s video, said: “Never did I ever imagine that I’ll be able to hear Mohd Rafi sing the melody and words that we wrote. It’s truly magic. You guys are magic.”

Expressing gratitude for the recreation that Xulfi said was “incredibly done”, he added that, “Hearing it this way is an unseen dream come true.”

Composed by Xulfi, Umair Butt, Faris Shafi and Shamroz Butt, ‘Blockbuster’ premiered on May 25 and has 26 million views so far.

‘Blockbuster’ has vocals by Umair Butt, Faris Shafi and the Gharvi Group comprising Abida, Rooha Rawal, Sajida Bibi and Saba Hassan.

Saba Hassan, the little girl who appears in the music video singing, “Oye Cutie Tenu Mein Samjharyaan, Hun Chadd De Ve Fankariaan, Ve Marjaanyaan,” also went viral with social media users obsessing over this “cutie”.
