Years in current role: 26 years as a partner; 9 years as Managing Partner

What do you expect to be the biggest challenges for the legal industry locally in the near future?

The entire industry is thinking about how generative artificial intelligence will affect the practice of law in the coming years. As the technology evolves and improves, we need to be thoughtful about how its use can benefit and challenge our approach to law practice, and we need to think critically about the impact on our broad business models and strategies, at a firm and practice group level. Finally, we need to have real systems in place to ensure we are using AI responsibly, particularly given that it’s still evolving nature.

What are your favorite aspects of the types of law you practice?

I have been a corporate and M&A lawyer my entire career and over time my “favorite aspects” have changed. I still enjoy the thrill of the chase when working on a deal and the push to get to closing, but what I enjoy most at this point is the opportunity to work directly with senior “C Suite” leadership at companies of varying sizes in broad industries to help them assess risk and make sound decisions.

What career do you think you would have if you weren’t a lawyer?
