Drugs worth Rs 410 crore destroyed by customs in Mumbai

A Drugs Disposal Committee of Mumbai Customs Zone-I, CBIC, comprising senior officials from DRI, Mumbai Customs destroyed 54.850 kg of Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS), including heroin, cocaine and marijuana, worth Rs 410 crore by incineration in Navi Mumbai on Wednesday.They destroyed the drugs at Common Hazardous Waste Treatment Storage and Disposal Facility (CHWTSDF) of Mumbai Waste Management Limited in Taloja in Navi Mumbai. A total of 244.9 kg of drugs, worth Rs 1,515 crore were destroyed by the customs this year.This is the third such destruction this year, the first being the destruction of 61.585 kg of drugs, worth Rs 240 crore on March 2, 2023 and the second being the destruction of 128.47 kg of drugs, worth Rs 865 crore, on July 19.The drugs were seized by various agencies, including the Postal Appraisal Section (PAS), Special Investigation and Intelligence Branch (SIIB) and the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI).Published By: Ashutosh AcharyaPublished On: Dec 13, 2023ALSO READ | Mumbai customs busts drug racket that dealt on Darknet, used cryptocurrenciesMust Watch
