Thanks to the power of artificial intelligence, many tasks that were once manual are now automatic. Google is among the companies that have invested the most in the segment. The company even integrated its Gemini models into its Workspace suite for improved functionality. Now, Google has announced that Google Meet will be able to take notes on your meetings for you.

Officially called “Take notes for me,” it is a feature that will allow Google Meet to take notes on everything discussed in a meeting held through the service. The feature draws on the advanced capabilities of the Gemini models for this. If you enable it, you will receive an automatic “report” with text notes on the meeting. This seems quite useful in case you missed something. Notes will allow you to review the entire meeting to be sure that everything was clear.

The feature opens up more possibilities, such as allowing you to better concentrate on the meeting by freeing you from the manual work of taking notes. It will also allow you to share meeting summaries with people who were not present if necessary. The notes will be available in the Google Drive account of the person who started the meeting. They will be able to find them using the Drive search box.

Starting April 13, users with Admin status will see a “Google AI note-taking” option in “Apps” > “Google Workspace” > “Google Meet” > “Gemini Settings.” It will be enabled by default, but they can disable it if they wish. Google also offers a tip if you want all users in your organization to receive the feature at once. The blog post says that “if you want all of your users to receive the feature at once, you may want to consider turning this setting OFF and then after rollout switching it to ON.”

The rollout is expected to be complete by August 21. Lastly, the Meet AI-powered note-taker will require an AI license or “add-on” on your Google account. It can be one of the following: Gemini Enterprise add-on, Gemini Education Premium add-on, or AI Meetings & Messaging Add-on.
