MGM China is considering an expansion of one of its casino resorts in Macau with the addition of more hotel rooms and new wellness services.
Via a report in Bloomberg, the non-gaming expansion of MGM Cotai would include hundreds more hotel rooms, as well as spas and health services.
Owned by MGM Resorts International, MGM China is in talks with consultants and designers about a potential wellness-themed building for the integrated resort (IR).
The project is part of the company’s bid to boost its non-gaming experiences and attract more tourists. MGM China currently has 2,000 hotel rooms in Macau, which is the smallest hotel portfolio of all of Macau’s casino operators.
According to Bloomberg, the group plans to open a new art museum and a wellness centre offering traditional Chinese medicine this year at a different Macau resort.

As for new integrated resorts, Legacy Entertainment, a leading theme park and resort design company, is designing an IR in Tashkent, Uzbekistan’s capital city.
The 28-hectare resort is estimated to cost more than $250 million. It will include hotels, retail space, and water park facilities.
