The European Artificial Intelligence Office (AI Office) has been established with a Commission Decision of 24 January 2024[1] as part of the Commission[2].

It will include staff with the skills needed to work on the tasks as laid down in the AI Act[3]. For the obligation on providers of general-purpose AI models to make publicly available a summary of the content used for the training of the model, the AI Office will develop a template.

The AI Office will cooperate both internally with relevant departments of the Commission, including those working on copyright-related matters, and externally with a wide range of stakeholders.

The Advisory forum will represent a balanced selection of stakeholders, including industry, start-ups, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), civil society and academia.

It will be balanced with regard to commercial and non-commercial interests and, within the category of commercial interests, with regards to SMEs and other undertakings. Representatives of organisations from the cultural sector will be eligible to express an interest in participation.

The scientific panel of independent experts will have the skills needed to accomplish the tasks laid down in the AI Act to provide advice and support the AI Office as regards general-purpose AI models and systems.

The members of the scientific panel will be selected following an open call for expression of interest by a selection committee. The conditions for membership in the scientific panel are: competence and scientific or technical expertise in the field of AI, independence from providers, and ability to carry out activities diligently, accurately and objectively.
