Lawyers for Binance founder and CEO Changpeng Zhao and Irish units of the crypto-trading firm have accused the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission of trying to use a “Trojan horse” in an effort to make the agency the de facto global regulator for cryptocurrencies. Binance – the world’s biggest crypto currency trading platform – and Mr Zhao have been sued by the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) for operating what the US regulator alleges was an “illegal” exchange and a “sham” compliance programme.
