Posing as devotees, Madhya Pradesh Police offers garland to saint, arrests him

In a special operation to arrest a saint, a team of the Madhya Pradesh Police visited a temple in Uttar Pradesh’s Mathura in plain clothes and posed as devotees. According to the details, the officials offered sweets and a garland to the saint, touched his feet and told him they had come to arrest him. The sadhu, identified as Ram Sharan, was allegedly an accused in a land dispute case in Madhya Pradesh’s Morena and had fled to Mathura. He was arrested from the Ram Janaki Temple Ashram in the city. In conversation with Aaj Tak, a police official said the sadhu was accused of creating a fake trust, in order to seize the rent of shops constructed on more than 6 acres of land attached to a temple in Morena. The official also named another accomplice of the sadhu in the case. A First Information Report (FIR) in this case was registered on November 3, 2021, against the sadhu and his accomplice after the temple chief came to know about the entire episode.The police arrested three people in connection with the case. However, sadhu Ram Sharan remained on the run. HOW WAS THE SAINT ARRESTED The police formed two special teams to nab the saint after the matter reached the Madhya Pradesh High Court. As a team of cops reached the Mathura temple, they posed as devotees in plain clothes and spoke to some people, asking about the sadhu and his whereabouts. They later approached the sadhu with sweets and garlands.As one of the cops bowed to touch the saint’s feet, he told the latter they had come from the Morena Civil Lines to arrest him.They also told the saint they had enough number of cops waiting for him outside the temple premises. Moments later, the saint surrendered in front of the police and was taken into custody. The saint was sent to jail after he was presented at a court in Morena.
