Premier Burt Attends Annual Satoshi Roundtable Premier and Minister of Finance David Burt is in Dubai attending the annual Satoshi Roundtable, a “gathering of top digital asset founders, leaders and executives.” A Government spokesperson said, “The Satoshi Roundtable is an invite-only event that has been running yearly since 2014. The Government receives invitations in recognition of Bermuda’s continued leadership in the digital asset industry, and the Government of Bermuda has sent a delegation to this event since 2019 to ensure the highest level of visibility for Bermuda. “Premier Burt, in his capacity as the Minister of Finance, is leading a delegation consisting of representatives from the Bermuda Monetary Authority [BMA] and the Government of Bermuda’s Economic Development Department. “The purpose of Bermuda’s presence is to promote the island’s innovative culture and the regulatory clarity provided to digital asset companies and digital asset insurers through the Bermuda Monetary Authority. Events like the Satoshi Roundtable provide a platform for Bermuda to invite high-quality companies to join our ecosystem, which promotes economic development and job creation. While in Dubai, the Premier will also join regular meetings in Bermuda remotely while abroad as normal, including Tuesday’s Cabinet meeting.” Premier Burt said, “I look forward to representing Bermuda at the Satoshi Roundtable, a critical event for leaders in the Digital Asset industry, to which the Government has been invited and has attended since 2019 thanks to our innovation and leadership in the digital assets space. Bermuda has had some successes as well as challenges in fintech. However, just as it was not all smooth sailing in the early years of reinsurance, in the long term, Bermuda’s leadership in the digital assets industry will yield benefits in the future.” “I’m grateful for the partnership between the Government and the Bermuda Monetary Authority. Their support at events like these is invaluable as it provides invitees direct access to our world-renowned financial services regulator, which is critical for the expansion of Digital Asset Companies and Insurers in Bermuda.” The spokesperson said, “The Premier will return to Bermuda on Wednesday, February 7, 2024.” #BermudaBusiness #BermudaPolitics #Cryptocurrency #Finance Category: All, Business, News, technology
