LG Uplus and Dell Technologies Verify AI-Based Cloud LAN Automation Technology
LG Uplus has successfully verified artificial intelligence (AI)-based cloud LAN (wireless access network) automation technology in collaboration with Dell Technologies. This innovative technology is designed to reduce communication network operation costs.
Cloud RAN is a 5th generation mobile communication (5G) technology that leverages network function virtualization. This technology integrates and manages LAN equipment supplied by multiple equipment companies in the cloud, enabling mobile communication companies to enhance the flexibility, expandability, and cost efficiency of their networks without being dependent on equipment companies.
According to LG Uplus, the technology verification resulted in a significant reduction in the total cost of ownership (TCO) when using cloud LAN, with an improvement of approximately 20% compared to before. The company attributed this success to Dell Technologies’ automation technology, which resolved the difficulties in construction and operation due to the separation of software and hardware.
Building on the success of this verification, LG Uplus plans to actively utilize AI-based cloud LAN automation technology in commercializing next-generation networks.
